It's time to go international! This is a song from a Hungarian band that I've been listening to on and off for a long time. The cover is of a hard to find concert variant and is by far the best version I know of. Stay tuned for the occasional international content in the future!
It's a fairly technical and complex song and it took many months to record all the tracks.
The song structure is atypical as well. Two verses and two very short bridge sections followed by a very long chorus that finishes the song.
Using the 3 - Classic Rock / Basic Rock 2 sample from the Vintage Organ library I did a minimal environmental organ riff to kick off the song.
The Kontakt 5 factory library came to the rescue again with the 3 VSL Brass / Trumpet sample. It beats my trumpet playing :-)
Played some patterns within a couple of E minor pentatonic scale shapes.
I initially thought of following the official guitar tab (link) but it was painful holding the Cm bar chord while doing arpeggios. Instead I resorted to Riffstation to transpose the chords with a capo and got to simpler yet less accurate chords.
The piano is a rhythm instrument in this song with a straightforward bass chord and chord arpeggio combination.
The singer's vocal range are a better fit for me. Notice though the occasional struggle with high notes especially towards the end of the song.
The kick drum and the bass go in unison starting with the second part of the song.
